American Explorers has changed me. Through this experience, I feel like I can help make my community a place where all feel safe to walk around at night, and parents are happy to see kids pursue their dreams.
We seek young men and women in the 8th and 9th grade who are serious about becoming exceptional leaders, who possess a thirst for learning, and who desire to challenge themselves in new and exciting ways.
The world needs more exceptional leaders–leaders who possess the courage, skill and wisdom to meet challenges head on, create healthy, vibrant communities, and develop lasting solutions to increasingly complex problems.
Becoming a leader is a lifelong journey. At American Explorers a four-year learning adventure begins with a challenging twenty-two day outdoor expedition in North Carolina. Year-round activities offer students opportunities to engage in school and community service projects, workshops, advocacy and team building sessions, ultimately enhancing leadership skills and paving the way for the future.
Exceptional leaders are ready to deal with extraordinary challenges, preparing themselves through continuous learning, practice, reflection, honest feedback from team members, and healthy decision-making.
Venturing outside of our comfort zone awakens the senses, tests our resolve, and accelerates learning. Whether in the mountains of North Carolina, the Outer Banks, or the heart of Atlanta, our expeditions offer an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the people, cultures and places where we travel and serve.
American Explorers partners with the North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) to deliver wilderness and community-based educational programs that have proven to be very effective in developing essential leadership and life skills. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, NCOBS offers a wide range of wilderness-based learning expeditions in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Outer Banks, Florida’s Everglades, Chile, and right here in Atlanta.
American Explorers believes in the power of partnership.
Working with schools, signature partners and community
nonprofit partners, we are creating a network of support
and guidance. Thank you to each of you.
