American Explorers

The American Explorers Basecamp is located on Hyalite Creek on the east side of the Gallatin Range in the Paradise Valley of Montana. Lying adjacent to Mountain Sky Guest Ranch and the Custer-Gallatin National Forest, the property provides a versatile facility capable of serving a wide range of programs with our nonprofit partners to further their youth education, leadership, outdoor skills, and natural resource conservation goals.

The property offers ready access to rich variety of natural habitats onsite as well as the adjacent Custer-Gallatin National Forest. Grassland, shrub-steppe, montane forest, and riparian habitats are all well represented, making for a rich outdoor classroom. The private nature of site allows for a greater flexibility and level of innovation, and fewer restraints than state parks, national forests, and the like. The end result enriches the imagination and sense of adventure that leads to impactful learning.

A wide variety of accommodations are available from backcountry camping and bunk houses with an outdoor kitchen, to a beautiful lodge with meeting space. The Basecamp is capable of accommodating up to 40 people dependent on the partner’s interests and time of year. A site map of the property is provided on the Resources page.
