American Explorers

American Explorers has changed me. Through this experience, I feel like I can help make my community a place where all feel safe to walk around at night, and parents are happy to see kids pursue their dreams.

American Explorers has me more open-minded to care for others. The people around me feel like family.  It has shown me that it is o.k. to be different.

I have really seen a growth in my leadership skills, and I have also gotten the chance to get closer to nature. Throughout the expedition I learned a lot about myself.

Six months ago I would never have imagined myself waking up to this view everyday or pushing myself as hard as I have to get here.

I know that I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and I know these people will support me whenever I need it.

I have fun doing different activities, but the best part of this program is that I’m learning about myself and how to sharpen my leadership skills.

I’ve learned more than I ever thought I could, laughed more than I ever thought I would, and grew to love my new friends and co-future leaders.

This was the best thing that I could’ve done. It changed my attitude. I’m more appreciative of the things I have. This experience challenged me to step outside my comfort zone and it pushed me to be better.

American Explorers has allowed me to open my eyes and expand my mind.  I no longer worry for my future but instead am inspired to better myself, my community, and hopefully someday our world.

American Explorers is the best experience I have ever been a part of.  It has challenged me and pushed me to my limits and I am extremely thankful for that.

Future Leaders

I honestly can’t think of any other experience Alexis has had that made such a difference.  She gained so much confidence, such love for the outdoors, and valuable friendships from this experience.  I believe she will apply the gifts she has been given to become a more active leader.

Deondre came home rejuvenated and excited to tell me about his twenty-day expedition. He spoke of the kindness and generosity of the staff and others he met in Montana.  He said, though he missed us, he felt at home because of the safe and loving environment you all provided.

Strangely, I feel this sense of comfort about her absence. I believe it comes from knowing how fortunate we are for this experience and the life-long impact it will have on both of our lives.

The staff showed nothing but professionalism, enthusiasm and compassion all mixed in with fun and positive energy. They are truly role models and mentors, and I think Molly will carry that with her as she becomes a young adult and is in a position of mentoring and positively impacting young people herself.

What a wonderful program for our teenagers! Every time Alejandra participates in these events, she expresses how much she enjoys being a part of American Explorers…thank you for teaching, guiding, encouraging and showing our daughter how to become a great leader!
